My MacBook Pro SuperDrive stopped reading and writing discs. Well, 1 out of 50 would work but most often I would get something like “Unable to calibrate laser power for selected media”. After few minutes of browsing, I figured there are two solutions:

1. Disassemble both MacBook and SuperDrive (oh, you wouldn’t want to do that) and clean it with q-tips. And then hope you’ll assemble it back.
2. Use compressed air can to blow the dust off the laser.

I didn’t have time to use the first approach (and yes – I didn’t want to take my chances), but I did not have a can of compressed air either..

Terminal.app that we had in Tiger had few very big “defects” so for terminal access in Tiger I used iTerm or Konsole . Leopard introduced tabs in Terminal 2, so I decided to give it a shot. Tomorrow. Available Today.

The Leopard – Mac OS X 10.5 major release we all have been waiting for is finally released and I was happy to receive the Leopard + iLife’08 family pack from UPS 4 hours before the official 6pm launch.

So how is it? Generally – I really like it. I like the new features, the new look, the overall improved performance – especially Mail.app updates as most probably I won’t have to use MailTags. But most probably I will start really liking Leopard only once these functions will become stable and some will actually start working.
